Ever wonder whats in the day that could make even the worse of times seem perfect? Well its the smiles of those who you may have helped or in the case of the members here the lives saved and changed. And today was no different then any other. It was busy but the rush seemed t keep people on their feet.Vince had seen kids come in with all types of issues from broken bones to those who where on there death beds. But each and every one he showed the same concern and attention.
His worse though was a boy around the age of four who was hit by a car and left by the side of the road, hit and runs around the city where common things to see, but this one truly hit a nerve, As he worked with the small boy, bandaging some cuts and stitching what was needed he did all he could before he was forced to transfer him up to the surgeons.
Walking to the on call room he looked out a small window to see the sky it was black and clouded showing no sign of the moon on this night, which just showed that it must be freezing cold by now, looking down at his watch he took notice of the time seeing it was past midnight now, he let out a soft sigh and made his way to the room. Sitting down at one of the couches he clicked the tv on and flipped through the channels, once more nothing gained his attention.
Tossing the remote softly to the side he looked up at the ceiling and shut his eyes and took some small breaths, these nights always where the longest, and rest was always well needed but rarely obtained, so he got it when he could. Taking his phone from his pocket he scanned through a few messages until he herd the door to the room open and he turned his attention to see who might be coming to take a rest for a bit as well.

"Thank you so much Doctor Barger! Thank you!" Mrs. Jones wrapped her arms around Elijah, hugging him tightly while crying tears of joy. Eli had just removed a tumor on the brain of her husband. Brain cancer was an ugly thing. While other types of cancer were physically and mentally exhausting on the patient, brain cancer was by far one of the worst on the patient and loved ones. The whole sense of being started diminishing. The will to live in many cancer patients can give them those extra months of life. In brain cancer patients, depending on where the tumor is located, they lose that sense of fight because they lose themselves. "It's my pleasure Mrs. Jones. Make sure Mr. Jones comes back for his check ups, alright? Take care."
Eli made his way down the halls of Seattle Main Hospital. He was a new attending here and still got lost in the maze of a hospital. The neuro attending looked down at his watch and realized he had been up for twenty hours. He just needed a moment to rest, to meditate. He was in surgery for twelve of those twenty hours and his mind and hands were exhausted. Eli opened the door to the on call room and saw that someone was already in there. "Oh! I'm sorry. I can go."

Looking up he shook his head a bit towards the other doctor, The man looked to be exhausted. That was not so uncommon in this field of things though. Standing up he made his way over to the stranger and offered a small smile. "No worry after all we all need some rest once in a while. Can I get you a cup of coffee?"
After a moment of waiting he had realized that he had not even made introductions, and of course this was one of those things that made him feel rude.Extending a hand he offered a friendly smile and began his introduction. "Sorry how rude. Im Vince, I work in pediatrics."
This night was turning out long, and one that was not going to end soon, Several hours of working and then starting it all over again. Things seemed to always be this way in this hospital and at times seemed like a little to much to handle, but the results of seeing smiles and happy families at the end of the day helped pull it all together.

Eli chuckled softly and nodded. "Ain't that the truth." He walked over to the coffee maker to boil some water. "That's fine. I'm going to make some tea. Not a big coffee fan, myself." Almost every doctor Elijah encountered drank coffee. Some of them didn't even like it, but when you're up for two to three days in a row, you do what you have to in order to say away.
Eli shook the man's hand. "Nice to meet you Vince." He smiled warmly. He always enjoyed pediatric doctors. "I'm Eli. I'm with neuro." Eli began steeping his tea. "So, how long have you been working here?

Vince shook the other mans hand gently and kept the welcoming smile upon his face, he always enjoyed meeting new people, and this place had always been a dream of his to work at, so actually doing so was a dream come true in way more then one way, he was able to save lives of children every day, and as well as meet people who made a huge difference in the lives of people who had no place else to turn to. To him their was no other job in the world that could compare.
"Its nice to meet you as well. And as for how long i have been working here.. well not long actually few months. Its a dream come true though that is for sure. Oh and good job with your surgery today.. amazing work." He often paid attention to the work of the other surgeons in the hospital not because he wanted to be nosey or anything, but mainly to watch their work and get to understand what it was others do to change and save lives as well. In a place like this it was always a good means to see just how important every job truly is.

"Oh very nice. Congratulations then. It's a very nice hospital. I mean, everyone talks about how outstanding it is." Elijah chuckled nervously then cleared his throat. "Anyway, it's my first week here so I'm still learning the ropes. The operating room is the only place that really feels like home. All the other doctors look at me like I'm some sort of virus to this hospital, but in the operating room, I'm boss. I call the shots and I save lives. They can't really argue with that. So thank you. For the compliment." Eli trailed off worried that he was stepping on toes or ranting too much. He didn't typically talk negatively but it was something he had to get off his chest.

He listened closely and rested up against a wall. When the rant was over he smiled a bit and began to speak in his normal calm and relaxed tone. Which often made people annoyed since he never seemed stressed or upset about anything. "Eh dont worry about them.. trust me as the pediatrics surgeon and lead doctor, im not to well with fitting in either. They just each think their job is the best things, so its all what ever. "
Pushing up from the wall he made his way to the fridge and grabbed a monster from the bottom drawer and popped it open, then took a long drink before turning back to his newely made friend."Well if you ever want to chat or go grab a drink let me know. Im pretty easy to find most the time."

Eli chuckled. He wasn't one that concerned himself with what others thought of him, but operating was his passion. He was a damn good doctor and worked hard to get where he was. He wouldn't have people look down on him because of his age. "You're right. Everyone's ego is just a bit too big around here. But yeah, we should definitely have out some time." Eli plopped himself down on the couch and closed his eyes, bringing his legs to his body in a crisscross formation.

He watched the other as he moved to the couch and curled up. He was right about the whole ego thing in this place. and being some of the youngest surgeons and doctors here was not always the best thing. Even if you did work extremely hard to get to this point. Alot of others still looked down at you. "Well you should be getting some rest, herd their might be some urgent cases in tonight, some huge accident or something. " Was news he had herd a while ago, figured it would be good to pass it on.

Elijah opened his eyes suddenly at hearing the word accident. "Accident? Do you know what kind? When should they be arriving?" Ever since Eli lost his parents to a car crash, one in instant death and the other brain loss, he always got nervous when he hears the word accident around the hospital. He never wanted to have to go through telling someone's children that their parents were dead. One of the worst parts of the job.
