personality
With her mischievousness and spirit, Nell seems to embody freedom. Her humor and charisma are her best assesst, along with her genuine warmth toward everyone she meets. Her defining trait may as well be her love of people, if not her passion about everything in life.
There is a duality to her that almost makes it seem like her innocence is a veil. Despite her status as ingenue at Seattle Main Hospital, she is incredibly savvy and the worst thing you could do is underestimate her. Having struggled her entire life, she knows her way around many situations, enough to handle herself with grace under the heaviest of pressure. She is adaptive as a social chameleon, and can pick up cues well, which is helpful with patients.
Unfortunately, Nell falls victim to her good nature quite a bit, and so she is often taken advantage of. She's always been a people pleaser, but as she's been maturing lately, she has started to develop her own sense of self. Now she is determined to prove herself in the work force. Of course, things are easier said than done, considering how she tends to neglect her needs. She hides a lot of her problems and ignores them, resulting in damage that could have easily been avoided.
It's a reason she fears deep relationships and why she tends to get herself involved with people who may be bad for her. She has a tendency toward toxic relationships, being too dependent on others to break out of it when she needs to. In combination with some of her reckless behavior, what she tries to keep under wraps will likely end up destroying her.

background
Nell is originally from The Bronx, New York. Coming from a rather broken home, she entered foster care as a teenager. She had a hard time adjusting and lots of therapy to go through thanks to her father's abandonment and her mother's abuse and neglect, being diagnosed with PTSD when she was taken from her mother. Unfortunately, considering how unstable her life was, she had to go without therapy after a year and began self-medicating.
After turning eighteen she was determined to get her life together, even though she had never really cemented a future plan. Nell had always been stuck in survival mode. But she went to community college before transferring to a nursing school in order to get her BA. During her time in college, she returned to therapy and learned how to better handle her illness, though she still has issues with coping and triggers. In the end, she managed to take her mess of a life and make something out of it, and whenever she has one of her bad days she reminds herself that wherever she is will never be as bad as where she's come from.
Being that jobs were more available on the west coast, she decided to move out when she found an opening at Seattle Main, leaving behind a relationship that wasn't going well at all and a lot of memories. She's been working there for almost a year now and lives with her roommate and pot-bellied pig named Winston. She loves being a nurse more than anything, considering it's her life goal to help others. Unfortunately in pursuit of this goal she often neglects herself, and as stated before, she has a tendency toward harmful behaviors to herself.
